And what a happy 4th it was...

We had a great day off in the middle of the week celebrating the 4th! Well, I guess I was the only one with the official "day off" since chad and Brooklyn are on summer vacation and every day is "off". :-)

We went to our small town parade this year instead of the big ginormous one downtown. It was very cute and quick (which was super important being it was like 90 degrees at 9:30am).

Jake was not a fan of the large noisy trucks but he was a fan of our God-dog, BooBear. I think he thinks BooBear is his dog and he just lives somewhere else.

The real reason we were there....

...our Goddaughter Allie marched with her Clown Club. Yay, Allie!

Later that day we hosted a last minute cookout for "party less" friends and family. Who would have thought there were 25 of us with no plans two days before the holiday? I forgot to take pictures except for this one of Misty's yummy patriotic dessert.

Hope everyone had a great Independence Day! Thank you to all who work so that I can live a free life in the best country in the world!

Jake's first dentist appointment

Yesterday was Jake's first dentist visit. He did a GREAT job- much to my surprise (given our hair cut history). I just love our pediatric dentist. They offer so many distractions. :-)

A New Discovery

I've been to Ocean Isle a dozen times or more but never remember seeing this fun little treasured spot at the north end of the island. It was a great place to take pics and for the guys to drop a quick line in the water.

It was sad to leave the beach at the end of the week, but oh so exciting knowing we were headed back later in the summer to spend the week with my family!

A Barefoot Excursion

On Wednesday, we decided to break up "beach routine" and head to Barefoot Landing in Myrtle Beach for the morning.

There was not much for the kids as far as "shopping"- meaning, I was in no way letting my mini-bull loose in those stores with so many breakable knick-nacks.

But we did find some fun along the shopping route...

Johnson Family Beach Trip 2012: Beach Time

It's been a crazy week getting caught up at work since I was living the beach life last week.

But what a perfect week weather-wise and what great family time we spent with Chad's parents, brother, and sister in law.

Here are a few snapshots of our beach time...

Way Back When-esday: Beach Edition

Brooklyn may still be rockin' the same bathing suit but these kids have come a long way in two years.

Happy Father's Day!

I've always had a pretty hip and cool dad....

Happy Fathers Day, Dad! I love you so much! Thank you for teaching me to be independent, strong in my beliefs, and how often I need to change air filters. And for helping me be the confident, Type A person I am today. :-)

And Happy Father's Day to this sweet daddy...I love you so much and can't imagine sharing this life with anyone else.

Though he doesn't read the blog...maybe one of you will tell him for me. :-)

And last, but not least, Happy Fathers Day to the best father-in-law ever!

I hope all the Fathers in my life and yours have a great day!

P90x...Out

I did it! I graduated from this beast of a workout!

Thank you, Tony Horton, for a wonderful 90 (well, probably about 105) days! I wish I would have been more conscious about my diet, but frankly, I felt like I had to eat like a horse just  to keep up enough energy to complete these workouts. But it was a great experience, and I would recommend it to anyone. No "after pics" because the only definition I really found was in my arms and actually in my obliques- and both places aren't exactly the most photogenic. But when I tell you that my stamina is improved by 210%, my thighs don't clap together when I run, and that I can keep up 100% with my no-body-fat Zumba instructor for 45 minutes solid, I hope you know that it definitely acheived some results.

So, what's next for this Mama? Well, you know I like structure and I like a start and an end. So, I ordered this...

It's older, but it's new to me (and only cost $6 on Amazon). It's 30 days straight of 20 minute workouts. Muscle confusion with cardio, strength training, and ab work. After doing 90 days of 60-75 minute workouts, this should be a breeze to fit into my schedule. I also plan on doing Zumba and running about 3-4 times a week during the program. A critic says to take your measurements beforehand, so I will actually do that this time. And take another "before pic"- which I guess would be my "P90 after pic." :-)

I'll keep you posted.

And I think I am actually gonna lay off the cheeseburgers and milkshakes for the next 30 days, too.

It is bathing suit season, you know.
