2013: The Summer of Trying New Things

Recently, we declared to Brooklyn that this summer was the "Summer of Trying New Things." She attended Girl Scout day camp for the very first time last week. And though it was quite distressing for her Monday and part of Tuesday, by the end of the week, she was annoying entertaining us with camp songs, declaring love for her counselors, and so proud of herself and her new t-shirt!

This week, she rode a train for the very first time with Nanny and Grandpa. They had a blast traveling to the big city (ha!) of Salisbury for the morning. :-)

Jake got in on the action of "Trying New Things" when he made his first S'more...

And got his first major haircut (long story, but this was NOT part of my summer plans and I am still in mourning...)

And played his first game of hoops with Daddy...

For me, I continue to strive to make this the "Summer of the Bikini" with personal training, Zumba, running, and healthy eating. Something new I've incorporated is this great 30 Day Ab Challenge that I have been doing with a fun Facebook group.

And, while I'm here, I'll officially introduce "Pappy's Paradise" to you all.

My parents decided a few months ago to become pool owners once again after an 11 year hiatus. And we could not be HAPPIER.

And, something that makes me just as happy as pool time is this sweet baby doll.

Our niece, Claire, is growing up so fast...and the best news of the summer EVER is that she is moving closer to us in August for an indefinite amount of time. Yippee for more Aunt Jaclyn spoiling time!!

Hope you guys have all been enjoying your summers! Here's to July being just as great as June!!!

Way Back When-esday: I'm ready for the beach!

I've been reminiscent of past beach trips this week. Check out these pics.

Last day of second grade!

Today is Brooklyn's last day of second grade. This pic pretty much sums up the 'tude we've had most of the year. :-)

First day and last day. Crazy.

A Long Line of Presidents...and we heard them all!

Last Friday, Brooklyn's 2nd grade performed a Patriotic performance with the Kindergarteners. The 2nd grade recited all the US Presidents in order with a cute one liner about each of them. They did a great job and it's hard to believe two years ago, B was that shy Kindergartener singing about the 50 Nifty United States.

She's top row middle in navy shirt...

The 2nd grade and Kindergarten classes...
A few clips of the sweet songs

Brownies- That's a wrap!

Brooklyn had another GREAT year in Girl Scouts this year!

Last Tuesday, we celebrated the end of the year with a parent presentation/party.

They welcomed a new member of their troop with the Girl Scout Promise.

And then all took turns sharing about what they accomplished this year.

This is such a great group of girls! 12 girls total from 12 DIFFERENT schools in the county. Unbelievable! I love the diversity so much and am so grateful for B having this experience.

A Big Birthday Weekend

My fabulous mother-in-law turned a "birthday ending in 0" last weekend. It was a great weekend celebrating her...but we all know the highlight was this doodlebug...
Gramma was in her glory. All three grandkids chilling at Gramma's House.

We did have them over to our house that weekend, too.

And Brooklyn made sure that Claire was coming to a super clean living room.

I think someone is ready for pool weather!

Claire loved being in the 'Boro! She told me she cannot wait to come back very soon.

It's amazing how interested she is in the kids now. Watching Jake and Brooklyn's every move and fascinated by these big-little people.

The weekend was not complete without some Sunday afternoon tummy time.

And then the bonus was that it was a long weekend!

And it was a loooooong weekend. But we had a great time.

Just tired us out a bit. :-)
